Master toolmaker Eduard Wacker ventured into self-employment. In technological terms, the chaining machines he developed and produced for the jewellery industry were far ahead of their times
History of the company
1952
1958
A crisis in Pforzheim’s jewellery industry also affected the young Wacker company. New business prospects had to be found. The existing know-how for manufacturing precision mechanical appliances was ideally suited for the emerging dental market. The first series production of expansion screws was therefore started in 1958. All our specialized and customized screws such as "Bertoni", "Planas" or "Spring Expansion Screws according Hauser" were first implemented as intended by their inventors, and underwent further development until ready for series production.
1961
The company moved to its new premises at our current location in Remchingen-Wilferdingen. The production of chaining machines was closed down.
1971
Together with her husband Reinhard, Inge Lemmermeier, the daughter of company founder Eduard Wacker, took over the business. In the following years, the company set up its own sales organization for dental products: Lewa-Dental was born.
1976
All expansion screws get a lightning yellow direction arrow as a standard feature.
1990
Following a number of minor expansions to the company building, a generous annexe nearly doubled the production and office space.
1993
Monica Lohmiller and Frank Lemmermeier, the grandchildren of the founder Eduard Wacker, took over the company management. The company name was now Lewa-Dental Feinmechanik GmbH & Co. KG.
1998
First certification according ISO EN 9002
and medical device directive 93/42/EEC
2002
The old premises finally proved too small. A new building more than trebled the production space. With our current 1300 m², we are ideally equipped to face the tasks ahead.
2023
We are certified since 1998 according to DIN ISO 9001, respectively since 2003 according to DIN ISO 13485 and the Medical Device Directive MDD (93/42/EWG).
Since 26.09.2023 we are certified according to the Medical Device Directive MDR (EU 2017/745).
In the family business, the fourth generation is already at the start.
